Louie Ashe Gary, a homemaker and tlented seamstress, transitioned to eternal rest on Febuary 2, 2009, at her daughter's home on Herring Run Drive in Baltimore, Maryland. Louise Ashe Gary was born and raised in Littleton, NC. She was the daughter of the late Luther Edmonds and Lula Alston. When she 17 years old, she met and married Nathaniel Gary in Roanoke Rapids, NC. They became the proud parents of eight children, Marie, Ollivia, Cleo, Yvonne, Paul, McClain, Deloris and Sharon. She spent most of her life as a loyal wife, and she seved as an outstanding mother and Christaian role model for her children as well as to others. Although she had little of a formal education, she encouraged her children to achieve academically, and to be the best at whatever life had to offer. She believed that education and faith in God was the key to success. Louise Gary was a gifted seamtress. Thoughout her life she devoted much time to designing cloths for herself and her children. Her special talent was designing hand made quilts. She won several prizes for her uniquely designed, hand crafted quilts. Most of all, Louise Gary was a devout Christian. At an early age, she gave her life to Christ. She was baptized and joined fellowship with the First Baptist Church of Roanoke Rapids, NC. Several years later, she became a faithful member of the New Jerusalem Apostolic Faith church in Garyburg, NC. She taught Sunday School, and she would frequently profess her love for the word of God. Upon arriving in Baltimore in 1995, she immediately began attending Leadenhall Baptist Church with her daughters. Olivia Carroll and and the late Marie Cherry, until her helth failed. While in Baltimore, she would ofter visit several nursing homes with her daughters to administer to the residents there. Louise Gary was preceded in death by two children, Paul Lawrence Gary and Marrie Steen Cherry. She leaves to cherish her memory six children, Olivia G. Carroll Robert, Cleo P. Bond Robert, Yvonne G. Lawrence, Mcclain Gary Judy, Deloris A. Ransom, and Sharon G.Finney; 13 granchildren, Roger Gary, Cynthia Barnes, Iris Kutch, Romona Johnson, Charles Steen, Robert Bond, Jr., gary Steen, Tamla Burnett, Rhonda Holly, Derek Ransom, McClain Gary, Jr., Tia Rhodes and Glen Rhodes, Jr., 29 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of other family members and friends.
