Lucy Gary was born May 1, 1936 in Simpson, North Carolina to the late John Henry and Estella Gray. Lucy was called home to rest Monday July 6, 2009 suffering from a brief illness. Lucy, affectionately known as "Momma" received her education in Simpson, North Carolina. She attended True Light Baptist Church where she was an active member for many years. Momma's greatest hobbie was cooking, playing cards and drinking "Pepsi". Lucy was very friendly and well-loved person who was always willing to lend a helping hand. Lucy was very humble and caring person, the type wwho was quiet but would speak when spoken to.She made everyone laugh and brought joy to all who knew her. "Momma" was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend. As she enter the heavenly gates, leaves cherish her memories;five children: Lucille Jones, William Gary who proceeds her death, Vanessa Brown Turniseed-El, Maxine Brown Small and Thiwite Dechamps;two son-in-law: Willie Small and Micheal Turnipseed El; one sister: Ranay Crawford Fletcher; one sister-in-law: Aretha Gary; one brother-in-law: Garland Crawford; thirteen grandchildren; eight great grand children; one grandson-in-law; devoted friends: Arlene Taylor and Shirleen Jonhson; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
