Lucy G. Hilliard, daughter of the late John M. and Annie Gunther, was born on September 13, 1921 in Accomac County, Virginia. She departed this life on December 19, 2005 after a lengthy illness. She received her education at Frederick Douglass High School. At the age of twenty, she became employed at Northwest Y.M.C.A. For twenty-five years she was lifetime member of the Trinity Baptist Church. She married the late Edward Leroy Sr. and out of this union one child, Edward Leroy Jr. was born he also preceded her in death. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She leaves to mourn: one daughter-in-law, Chlorice D. Hillard; one granddaughter, Tonya Hilliard; three great-grandchildred, three great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Walther Gunther three sister preceded her in death, Frances Wainwright, Constance Vaiden and Beulah Brown; nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
