IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lula
Brown
June 16, 1934 – June 3, 2018
Lula Beatrice Brown
was born on June 16, 1934 in Sumter, South
Carolina to the late Issac and Elise Ballard. She peacefully departed this
earthly life at home on June 3, 2018 after a brief illness. She was preceded
in death by her sister MaryLee McMener, three brothers, Hamilton Bal-
lard, James Ballard, Sr., and Ashby Smith and one granddaughter, Donita
Brown.
She met and married the love of her life the late Oscar "Pappy" Brown
sixty-six years ago. Out of this union six children were born, Betty,
James, Mary, Willie, Henrietta and Annette. They left Sumter South,
Carolina for Baltimore, Maryland leaving many friends- and family be-
hind. Lula was a homemaker and she lovingly took care of and raised her
children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Lula was a member of the Shepherd Community Baptist Church where
she regularly attended service until she became ill. She loved the Lord.
Even during her illness she would always say, "God's Got Me". She held
the title of Queen of the Maryland Baptist Convention in 2010. She was
grateful to GOD to see a number of her children, grandchildren and
great-grandchildren serving the Lord. She enjoyed listening to her Pastor,
First Lady and Male Chorus on Sunday mornings.
She truly loved to cook those six course Sunday dinners for her family.
She leaves to cherish in her loving memory: six children, Betty (Elijah),
James (Dorothy), Mary (Carroll), Willie (Brenda), Henrietta and Annette;
three adopted sons, Andrea Dowdy, Jerrell Berry and Aaron Carter; one
brother, Jasper (Mildred(d)), two sisters: Dorothy (Herbert(d)), and Nina;
ten grandchildren, Tyrone (Christine), Brenda, Alsica, Katrice (Antoine),
Tyiashia, Brandon, Jacquetta, Nyshea and Amayah; fourteen great-grand-
children and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members and
friends.
