Obituary

Lula Mae Brown affectionately known as "Mazzey" or "Mae ", was born October 28,1934 in Sumter, South Carolina to Mabel and Earnest Williams. Mazzey later moved with her mother, father and two brothers to Harlem, New York where she attended and graduated from New York City Public Schools. After graduating from high school, Mae went to work for the New York Telephone Company for many years. During that time she met and married James Brown and from this union one son, Stanley was born. Mazzey later went to work for Lincoln Hospital in New York where she was a Union Steward. She worked tirelessly for her co-workers and friends. After many years at Lincoln Hospital and living in New York, she decided to move to Baltimore, Maryland. Soon after moving to Baltimore, she met the love and joy of her life, Bill. She and Bill spent many loving and cherished years together. Mazzey could often be heard singing "Don't Mess With Bill ... Leave My Billy Alone"! For over twenty-five years Mazzey was employed at the Univer- sity of Maryland Medical Center where she retired "twice". Many know that her co-workers at the medical center were her second family, sons and daughters. Mazzey's presence would light up a room. Her greetings, her smile, her warm embrace, her love of life, her humor and laughter simply brought you into her world and you could never forget her. A few days ago, Mazzey fell asleep after a long day on earth and awoke in the arms of her Savior Jesus the Christ. She has heard the words, "Well done, my good and faithful servant-you have spread my love around to all those that you have met. They know my love a little better because of you". "Come now and rest." She has passed on the torch and memory to: son, Stanley (Minneapolis); brothers, Lester and sister-in-law, Alice (New York City) and Earnest (New Jersey); grandchildren, great grandchil- dren, nieces, nephews, and a host of wonderful friends and co- workers.
