Obituary

Mrs. Mable Carol Pittman (Ganny), of Baltimore, MD., transitioned to Glory on Thursday, December 3, 2020 at the age of 73.

Ganny was born to parents Will Albert McKee and Thelma Edwards on May 28, 1947 on 1105 Thompson Street in Baltimore, Maryland. She attended Dunbar High School. Ganny loved the Lord and gave her life to him while attending First Apostolic Faith Church with the late Olivia Cornish in her early years. She enjoyed going to church, reading her daily bread, and watching church services via TV. She loved her Jesus so much, she ministered to all she encountered and then would say, "God loves you and so do I." She was known for her seafood shrimp salad and frozen cups. In addition, her style of dress was fashionable as she loved to shop (that is where her daughter gets it from) and remained until God called her home. She was at Elder Plus (Adult Day Care Center) dressed like she owned the place.

Ganny worked all kinds of jobs while on this side of Jordan. She worked at Lee's Steak House as a short order cook. She also worked in Environmental Services for years working her way up to Director of Environmental Services at Towson State University. She enjoyed he Day Care where she watched anybody's kids and met the parents where they were at financially. To this day, Imani, China, Shae, and Dontae remember their Ganny." She just was full of joy when Sybil would bring the "Twins" down to spend time with Ganny. She spent her final working days in the Private Sector as a Caregiver. She took care of one of the first medical surgeons' in Maryland, Dr. Shanka, M.D. and a host of remarkable senior citizens. Her favorite niece as she was known to say anywhere, Tracy Barnes-Malone led the way in providing quality care for the elderly and Ganny was compassionate about assisting her to do so. No matter where she worked, she developed long-lasting friendships, and was looked upon as a mother figure and confidant.

Ganny is survived by her daughter, Shavonda Thompson; her two sons, James Thompson, and Antonio Thompson; her one and only grandchild, LaPiffany Passion Shearin and her great grandchild, Mecca King Taylor. One sister, Tabatha Keene. A host of nieces (Chubby, Daggie, Dottie, Tracy); nephews (Tyrone, Red Baby, Malik, Billy-Joe, Greg, Reggie, Ronnie, Kat) relatives (Shirley, The Barnes, Beverly Parker) friends (Joyce, Sybil), and numerous godchildren including Alvin, Kenya, Dewayne, and her London (Lon-Lon).

She is preceded in death by her life-long partner the late James P. Thompson, her late husband, William Pittman; her parents, Will Albert McKee, and Thelma Edwards; her sisters, Delores Cromwell (Dee Dee), Alvera Shields, Vernon B. White (Brother); her lifelong mentor Olivia Cornish (Baby Sis) and niece Cheryl Taylor. There are so many other nieces, nephews, friends, and godchildren that she loved and enjoyed spending time with not mentioned, but they know who they are and what she meant to them.
