Magdeline Townes-Roper, the daughter of the late Rev. Alvin and Maggie Anna Townes, was born on December 21, 1924 in Baltimore, Maryland. Magdeline was second of their four children. Magdeline received her education in the Baltimore Public Schools. She graduated from Douglas High School. During her younger years she worked at her mother's restaurant in Chestertown, Maryland, "Home Cooking". Magdeline met and married the late Alonza Roper June 28, 1944. She was a devoted, caring & loving wife and mother to their six children. Always expressing kindness, extending a helping hand with a smile, and teaching honesty being the best policy by example. Her greatest love was sewing and encouraged her children to acquire a craft or skill. Magdeline leaves to cherish her memory; daughters: Penelope, Valerie Basil, and Magdeline John Sr.. Sons: Michael Sr. Edna, Alonzo Jr. Shiela, and Aaron. Grandchildren: Towanda, Eugene, Danielle, Dana, Kelly, Shaunte, John Jr., Kendra, Michael Jr., Michelle, Clarence III, and Shannon. Twelve Great-grand children. Sister-in-law: Edith C. A. Townes, extended family members and friends.
