IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Malcar
Waters
August 19, 1930 – July 4, 2020
Malcar "Junior" Waters, Jr., of Baltimore, Maryland, received his wings in the early morning hours on July 4, 2020. Malcar was affectionately known as "Junior" by his family and friends. He was born on August 19, 1930, and was educated in Baltimore City, Maryland schools.
Malcar joinedtheArmy National Guard in 1948. He was a part ofthefirst all-Black National Guard and a member of the 231st Transportation Corps Truck Battalion in Baltimore, Maryland. Malcar was activated in 1950 to servein theKorean War. The 231st Transportation Truck Battalion was the only Maryland National Guard unit ordered to active duty to support theKorean War. While stationed in Germany, Malcar received his college education. He fervently continued to acquire many skillsinall his professionalandpersonal activities during his lifetime. Malcar retired from RTKLAssociates Architecture Firm in 1999 after 20 years of employment as a Reproduction Specialist and Printer in Baltimore, Maryland. Notsurprisingly, Malcar was awarded several honors and commendations during his military service and career. In 1961 Malcar met Mildred best known as "Pat." Pat accepted his hand in marriage, and theyraised a family together for 59 years. They never left each other's side during the happiest and most challenging of times. Simply stated, Junior loved Pat, and Pat loved Junior.
Inthe late '70s, Malcar joined the Masons and was an active member for several years. He was raised Catholic and later converted to Christianity. Malcar joined the First St. Stephens Baptist Church in Baltimore, Maryland, under the leadership of Pastor, Rev. Dr. AggieL.Brown, Jr. He loved theLordwith all his heart and attended church as often as possible with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Malcar will always be remembered as a hardworking man who did not let the people around him have any slack. Malcar took great pride in everywhere he lived, and everyone knew it. Not only would he keep his lawn meticulously landscaped, but he would also make sure everyone on his block had their grass regularly cut - even if he had to do it himself. There were times when he had all the neighborhood children outside on weekends cleaning the gutters and the alley before playtime could begin. Makar truly did not have the word "can't" in his vocabulary. At the age of
85,he was still taking care of his own lawn, including shoveling snow!
IfJunior cared about anyone, he would do everything he could for them.Ifhe considered anyone "family," he always supported them and had their back.
Malcar (Junior) leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife of 59 years Mildred (Pat) of Baltimore, Maryland, his children Michael,Kim(Richard), Cynthia; step-children Charles and Marion; adopted daughter Melinda; sister-in-law Carolyn; brother-in-law Rickie; daughter-in-law Beverly; fourteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; two great-great- grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; special friends Mr. and Mrs. Pat and Lewis Savage; and many more relatives and friends too numerous to mention. He was preceded in death by his parents, Malcar Waters Sr.and Florida McDaniels; and four children, Marion, Wanda, Malcar III,and Joyce.
