IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Malcom E.
Bivins
March 30, 1962 – August 10, 2016
Malcolm Emmanuel Xavier Bivins, son of John Bivins and Pauline Clinton, was born March 30, 1962 in Baltimore, Maryland. Malcolm was educated in the Baltimore City School System where he graduated from the Baltimore Polytechnic Institute. He was initiated into the Delta Psi chapter of the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. July 1, 1981. He peacefully transitioned from this life on August 10, 2016 at 6:20am sunrise.
In 1990 he married Dominique Salomon and from that union came three beautiful children, Nylea, Justin and Malik. Family was extremely important to Malcolm. He loved each one unconditionally. If you were his friend, you also became part of his family.
Malcolm was a hard worker and a great salesman. Malcolm was known for his unique fashion style. Malcolm was an avid lover of reggae and gospel music. He loved to travel. Malcolm was a passionate lifelong learner. Malcolm's commitment to Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. did not cease as an undergraduate. In response to the 1996 "Million Man March" call to action for Black men to be actively involved with organizations that are "working for, and in the interest of, the uplifting and the liberation of our people" Malcolm and other fraternity brothers chartered a graduate chapter in Montgomery County, MD. The Sigma Sigma Sigma Chapter (aka Tri Sigma). In June 2016, the chapter celebrated their 20th year anniversary and Malcolm was recognized for his tireless service and contribution to the chapter.
Malcolm had a strong Christian Faith. Throughout his life, Malcolm was dedicated to helping all who came to his door step. His home was always open to anyone and he welcomed everyone with care and love. Anyone who had the privilege of knowing him can attest to his deep love and passion for life. Everyone who knew him will truly miss him.
He leaves behind to celebrate his life: his beloved wife Dominique Bivins, daughter Nylea Bivins and sons Justin Bivins and Malik Bivins; his mother Pauline Clinton; his father John Bivins; his brothers Brian Bivins, Aleem Bivins, Rodney Clinton and preceding him in death, brother Anthony Highsmith and Aaron Bivins. He also leaves a number of cousins, nieces and nephews as well as his brothers of Phi Beta Sigma and a host of other relatives and friends.
