Mamie LEE Moon of Walderso, North Carolina, daughter of the late
Frank Huntley and Nannie Gatewood Huntley was born February 6, 1940
and passed away October 6, 2017.
Mamie was one of four children, one of her siblings preceded her in death;
one brother, Deray Huntley and two step sisters, Clara Sinclair Registers
and Mildred Sinclair Hites. Her surviving sisters are Angeline Huntley
Polk and Minnie Lou Huntley.
She graduated from Anson County High School in 1958. After graduation
she moved to New York at the age of 18. Shortly thereafter she moved to
Baltimore, Maryland to pursue her lifelong dream of becoming a nurse.
She gained employment at the Children's Hospital as a part time nursing
assistant. Her employment continued at Rosewood State Hospital and
remained 40 years. The same time she worked part time for 19 years at
Loyola College Health Center where she served as record keeper.
She met and married the love of her life Frank E. Moon. One loving
daughter, Veronica Tracy Moon was born. Mamie dearly loved her grand-
daughter, Essence Margo Moon-Green.
She was a member at St. Paul Institutional Baptist Church of Baltimore,
MD, under the leadership of Rev. Coby Robertson. She faithfully served
until her health begin to fail.
During her free time she was a faithful fan of the Colts and Ravens. Her
favorite player was Ray Rice and she purchased and proudly wore his
jersey. Calling her friend Dolly Inman, friend over 40 years.
Connie is a very special friend who is close to Tracy and was to Mamie.
She was like an extended member of the family. She made sure she
received her Pepsi.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her devoted daughter, granddaughter,
aunts, uncles and a host of loving family and friends.
