Marceline Delores Pettit, daughter of Norman WhitbySr.and the lateDelia Whitby, passed away peacefullyonSunday night, January12,2020,at the ageof82.
Marceline was born on December 30,1937 in Baltimore, Maryland.She grew upand attended school in Turners Station. After graduatingfrom Sollers Point Junior/Senior High School, Marceline held variousJobs and especially enjoyed working many years at Western Electric.
Inher early years, she attended Saint Matthews Methodist Church and later worshipped alongside her familyatMount Pleasant Church and Ministries.
In1958, she was blessed with her daughter Cheryl. Soon after, Marceline met and married her husband of56years, Edward Pettit. From that union, she was blessed withtwostepdaughters,JoAnnand Theresa. Implementing core values headed with the loveandreverence for God, respect, educationand sound moral principles oflife,Marceline took great pride in lovingly caringforherfamily.Cheryland JoAnnpreceded her in death.
Shewasa fun-loving, fiercely strong, and phenomenal woman with a hilarious laugh that's suretofollow with a slap. Spending good times with family,close girlfriendsandher grandchildren brought her pure happiness.Veryenergeticandactive,sheenjoyed traveling, gardening, music, movies andshopping. Marcelinewas anavid reader, a champion bowler and could makethe most delicious rice pudding. She was also a member of The Orderof the EasternStar.
Marceline's joy of living, kindandcompassionate spirit overstood any of life's adversities. Exuding style and grace, her optimism and unwavering faith washighly admirable. She captured the hearts ofmany, truly a specialgiftto allshe knew, leaving a legacyaspowerfulasthe love she gave.
She leavestocherish sweet memories: her devoted husband, Edward Pettit; father, Norman Whitby; siblings, Brenda Pryor, Beatrice (Tony) Chapman, Thomas (Darnell) Whitby; step daughter, Theresa Taylor; grandchildren, Tinika Brightful, James Brightful, Lakesha Pettit, George (Saroja) Jenkins; great-grandchildren, Tynairra Brown, Jordan Brightful, Anton Pettit, Geyona Jenkins and a host o f nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and lovedones.
