Marcella Lowery Hurd, daughter of the late Wilson and Anna Lowery was born October 12, 1929 in Baltimore, Maryland. She departed this life on January 22, 2012 after lengthy illness. She received her education in Bel air, Md. Marcella later in life moved to Washington, DC and married Maurice Hurd Sr. Out of this union five children were born. One son Maurice Jr. preceded her in death. She was a very loving and caring person. she had a sweet spirit and will truly be missed. She always had her home open to anyone. She was a member of Mt. Zion since 1981 and served on the Courtesy committee. Marcella was a foster care mother for over 20 years. Marcella is survived by her husband Maurice Sr., six children, Michael, Margaret Staten Fred, Marilyn Thomas, Marie Davis Hosea Sr., James Marshall, Kadijah Turner, nine grandchildren, Tara, Torrey, Maurice III, Daryl, Fred Jr., Hosea Jr., Justin, Joshua, Patrick, Brandon, Twenty four great-grands, of one Davon Robeson she raised as her own, two great great grands, one sister Charlotte Couplin, one sister-in-law Harriett Lowery, one daughter-in-law, Venetia Hurd, one Goddaughter, Alisa guy and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
