IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marcus
Austin
September 5, 1997 – February 25, 2021
Marcus Rashard Austin was born September 5, 1997 in Prince Georges County. His parents, Wanda and Michael Austin, raised him to love the Lord God and to love his family. Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, decided that it was time for Marcus to come home, so he passed in his sleep on February 25, 2021 in Baltimore City, Maryland. Marcus was educated in the Baltimore County and Baltimore City public school systems. He attended Woodlawn High School and finished his secondary education at First Step YETP classes. He obtained his High School diploma in 2015. Marcus then decided to further his education by attending the Woodstock Job Corp program (2016) and obtained many Security Guard certifications. He later attended the Year-Up program (2017) at the Baltimore City Community College campus while also taking media development courses (2019). With his security knowledge, Marcus worked as a security guard, his first chosen career, for Securitas Security. Most recently, Marcus switched careers to become an apprentice/maintenance technician in Mr. E. Johnson's home renovation business and volunteered with him on Sundays at the Food Bank. In 2012, he assured his salvation, Marcus would later say, as he walked to the alter at the New Antioch Baptist Church of Randallstown and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. For his baptism, Deacon William Banks, his mentor at church, surprised him and assisted with his baptism that day. Marcus had an inquisitive mind and enjoyed talking about the Bible. Marcus loved watching sports with his dad and playing pick-up basketball with his friends. He was an avid reader, an excellent cook, and a compassionate person. Marcus adored his nieces and nephews as he was part disciplinarian and part play toy for them. Marcus leaves a legacy of love and precious memories for his "mom" (Wanda) and "dad" (Michael), devoted sister Mallory Austin-McClain (Kevin), nieces and nephews (Khloe, Kevin, Milan, and Major), grandparents Jeanette Austin (Eugene Jr, deceased), Janie L Bennett (Neal, deceased), Aunts and Uncles: Kelly and Eugene Austin, Margaret and Rodney Austin, Gloria and Wayne Bennett, Deborah and Robert Blanding, Cheryl (Robert deceased) Fulton, Dinette and James Posey plus many more aunts, uncles, and cousins (e.g. "Uncle" Bruce), close friends (e.g. Henry) and other friends.
