Marguerie Harris Gorrell who ventured through Death's doorway on Thursday evening, July 7, 2011, at Riverside Health Care Center, Danville, Virginia. On December 7, 1918 she was born in Halifax County, Virginia to the late Luther B. and Minnie Goode Harris. Marguerie was educated in the Halifax County Public School System. At an early age Marguerie accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and joined White Oak Grove Baptist Church, Sutherlin, Virginia under the leadership of the late Rev. Ewell. Later she moved to Baltimore, Maryland where she united with Leadenhall Baptist Church on May 5, 1946 under the leadership of Dr. M.C. Allen, where she faithfully glorified God through her service. Sister Marguerie was also an active member of the Literary and Social Guild, Marguerie was a caring and loving person, who always greeted you with her kind words and a smile and she would help you in any way she could. Marguerie was united in Holy Matrimony to Shirley Gorrell for forty-nine year until his death on August 23. 1989. She leaves to cherish her loving memory on sister, Janie Taylor of Baltimore, Maryland; a god-daughter, Linda Wharton-Boyd of Baltimore, Maryland; two sisters-in-law, Beatrice Harris of Sutherlin, Virginia and Lola Harris of Baltimore, Maryland; two brothers-in-law, Johnny Fallen of Sutherlin, Virginia and Roy Hardy of Newport News, Virginia; devoted care givers, Jerry Harris Ida and Malvenia Calloway both of Danville, Virginia and Delphine Martin Robert of Petersburg, Virginia and a host of nieces , nephews, other relatives and close friends. She was preceded by five sisters, Minnie L. Blake, Agnes Ballou, Maude Estelle Dany, Lessie Beatrice Fallen and Ruth V. Hardy; four brothers, John L. Harris, Charlie Harris, James B. Harris and Willie Herman Harris.
