Marinda was born Marinda Talley on April 17, 1919.
A daughter of the late Granderson & Maggie Talley
in Palmer Spring, VA. At an early age, Marinda gave
her heart & life to the Lord and became a member of
Penuel RZUA Church where she was baptized.

As a young woman, she left her family's farm and moved
to Baltimore, MD where she later met and married a great
man, the love of her life, Luther Blackwell Sr. who preceded
her in death. From this union they had two children,
Luther Marque Blackwell & Maxine Blackwell Bowers.

Marinda & Luther joined New Shiloh Baptist Church under
the leadership of Rev. Timothy J. Boddie. Following his
death, they remained faithful under the new leadership of
Dr. Harold A. Carter Sr. and Pastor Harold A. Carter Jr.
Marinda has worked on countless projects for her church
including the Courtesy Guild and the Senior Circle.
