July 12, 1954 – September 5, 2019
Mark Anthony Ayers, son of the late Catherine Louise Ayers and Johnny
Cooper, was born on July 12, 1954 in Exmore, VA and was called to rest
on September 5,2019 at St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.
Mark moved to Baltimore at a young age and was reared in the family by
his Aunt Cordie and Uncle Jesse Siler when his mother transitioned.
Mark is a product of Baltimore City Public Schools, graduating from
Carver Vocations-Technical High School in 1972. As a child Mark
attended Berea Temple Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
When the family moved to the Southwest Baltimore neighborhood,
familiarly known as Edmondson Village, Mark blossomed into a friendly
and more extroverted personality, developing relationships that remained
throughout his life, including his two very Best friends Michael Peels and
Garland White (they were like brothers).
Mark and Peggy were married on July 14, 1980 and were blessed with
three sons: Marc, Nigel and Jamal.
Mark was employed by NSA National Security Agency and in the field
of transportation until the onset of recent illness. During his entire adult
life, Mark was an avid practitioner of karate and eventually took on
photography as a hobby.
Mark was preceded in death by his mother Catherine Ayers and his sister
Jeanette Ayers Flowers.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his lovely wife Peggy Ayers, four sons
Marc, Nigel, Jamal and Joshua Ayers, his daughter-in-law Nedra Ayers,
his grandson Jashawn Ayers, his unborn granddaughter Zhane' Kyree
Ayers, his three cousin siblings with whom he was raised with, Dr.
Salima Marriott Gibbs (Charles), James Suter and Gloria Siler, Mother-
In-Law Shirley Brown, Father-In-Law Horace Brown, Sister-In-Law
Hortense Paul and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
