Obituary

Marlene Janet Winston, was born November 2, 1954 to the late Donald
Winston and Madeline Long Winston in the James City community of New Bern,
North Carolina. She departed this life on Sunday, February 14, 2016 at Blue
Point Nursing & Rehabilitation Center after a long illness.

Marlene was educated in James City Public Schools and was active member
of Jones Chapel AME Zion Church in James City and Bethel AME in Baltimore,
MD. Marlene loved God, enjoyed worship in church and praised the Lord, her
favorite spiritual was "How Great Thou Art".

Marlene was an athlete in Special Olympics as a discus thrower. She loved
competition, having fun and meeting new friends that shared her love of people.
After moving to Baltimore, she was lovingly cared for by her sister, Grace for
seventeen years.

Everyone that met Marlene would remember her infectious smile and sweet
spirit. Her love of babies was known by everyone. She could always be counted
on to come visit and offer to babysit for them. Many people have fond childhood
memories of her visits. She especially loved her local James City community and
was an advocate for everyone. Marlene was blessed with a wonderful capacity to
remember your age. if she knew how old you were, she would not let you forget.

If you knew Marlene, then you knew she loved Michael Jackson. Marlene was
the "president of his fan club." She had posters, books, buttons and t-shirts all
about her favorite guy. if you asked what she wanted as a gift, it would be
something to do with Michael Jackson or her second favorite thing, jewelry. She
never met a bracelet she didn't like, the more the merrier so that those bracelets
could make some noise on her arm.

We know that heaven now has one more angel added to the kingdom. She
touched the lives of everyone that met her and will never be forgotten. We loved
her here on earth, but God was ready for her to come home.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Donald, Amos, John and Cornell
and three sisters, Mary Etta, Clotee and Grace.

Marlene leaves to cherish her memory: two brothers, Roger Dunson of Baltimore,
MD and Stephen Winston, Sr. of New Bern, NC; one sister, Vera Carter of
Baltimore, MD; four sisters-in- law, Margaret Dunson of Baltimore MD, Mary
Dunson of Union City, NJ, Gloria Dunson of Petersburg, VA and Cynthia
