Obituary

Martha Gwendolyn Evans was born to the late Charles Samuel and Ida Mae Hill on March 17, 1925. She was the third of eight children of which three sisters, Hilda Genva Hill Sug, Ida Mae Miles and North Victoria Felder Tan ad one brother Charles Samuel Hill, Jr. preceded her in death. Martha was educated in the Baleimore city Public School System. She worked at the Maryland Biscuet company for eight years and was a supervisor Custodian for the Baltimore City Public School where she retired. She was baptized on June 1, 1980 under the leadership of the lat Reverend Dr. Eddie R. Wilson, Jr. She was a faithful member of the Senior Male and Female Ushers Ministry, the Sisterhood Ministry and the Wednesday evening Bible Study Class. She served on the Culinary Ministry where she prepared food for the Noonday Prayer and Praise Service for over ten years. She volunteered on Mondays for the Community Eat Togather Program. In April of 1984 she was united inHoly Matrimony to the late Victor Evans. "Aunt Toostie," as she was effectionately called by everyone who knew her, enjoyed spending time with her family. She kept in touch everyday with sister and brothers, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Aunt Toostie loved watching her favorite sports basketball and football. During the holidays she enjoyed cooking her famous three layer coconut cake and her yeast rolls. Some of her favorite pastimes were to volunteer at the church and to eat lunch with her niece, Tanya Pixie and to relax with niece, Janet. One of her favorite scriptures was the 23rd Psalm and her favorite hymn was "leaning on the Everlasting Arms." Her memories will be cherished by all. She leaves to mourn; her son Kenneth Lee Hill, Sr.; a devoted and loving granddaughter, Anitra Hill; two grandsons, Kenneth Jr. and Kevin Hill; four great-grandsons, Justin, Jarrett, Kenneth Ken Ken and Kelly; three great-granddaughters, Taylor, Morgan and Sydney; two brothers, Thomas Leroy and William Oliver Hill; one sister, Shirley Doretta Gordon; three sisters-in-law, Floretta, Charlotte and Marina Marty Hill; daughter-in-law, Jerreldon Jerrel Hill; many, many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. She even adopted Erna Garrett, Manettra Grayson-Meeks and Tom and Ina Dawson as her family as well.
