Obituary

Martha , was born on October 8, 1924, to parents Fred and
Lula Coleman. She departed this life on February 1,2018 after
complications from a stroke.

Martha was born to a family of means, but cherished the simplest
things in life. Martha received her education in the Baltimore City
School System and had many different jobs.

Later in life she met and married George W. Fields and 6 children
accompanied the union.

Martha was a hard worker who performed several jobs. Her most
recent job as a Senior Companion with the Baltimore City Health
Department was her favorite until she retired.

Martha was a woman of great charisma, and was affectionately
known as Ms. Martha, Aunt Martha, Mattie, and Grandma. She was
a true provider to her family. Her grandchildren affectionately called
her "Grandfather". She was also called Santa Claus because she would
give and has given her last to whoever needed it. Everyone who knew
her loved many things about her, including her sense of humor, giving
and nurturing spirit, and her ability to be the life of any party. She was
well liked, loved, and respected by many. Martha was an outgoing woman
of adventure who never hesitated to speak her mind. Martha was a
woman of little patience for foolishness, with a make no, take no mess
attitude! Martha was a true friend indeed to anyone in need. There was no
expense too big to bear for her family and friends. Martha Fields had
a heart as big as the sea is wide. To know her is to love her. She was
a woman of great wisdom and she didn't mind sharing that wisdom
with anyone she talked to. She seldom quoted scriptures or toted the
bible, but she definitely knew and loved the Lord.

Martha is survived by: her children, George A. Fields, Sarah Fields,
Tyrome Fields, Gwendolyn Fields-Walker (James Walker, deceased),
Reatha Fields, Debbie Ann Johnson, Reitta Fields, Tom Singleton and
her devoted Goddaughter Mary (Butchie) James; 17 Grandchildren;
22 Great Grandchildren; 8 Great Great Grandchildren and a host of many
relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents Fred and
Lula Coleman; husband George W. Fields; daughters Pauline and Marlene;
stepson Leroy; grandsons Derrick and Marty; and great grandsons, Tyrone
and Thomas. She will be genuinely missed by all Memorial Service Joseph H. Brown Jr. Funeral Home Thursday, February 08, 2018 03:30 PM - 05:30 PM Email Details 2140 N. Fulton Ave
