MARTHA LOREITA HAMLETT was born on February 25, 1961 to the late Ophelia W. Hatcher and Jessie L. Hamlett (stepfather Frederick Hatcher Jr.). She departed this life on Saturday, February 8, 2025.

Martha received her education in the Baltimore City Public School System and graduated from Carver Vocational Technical High School in the Business Course. She continued her education and received her Associate and Bachelor degrees in Business Administration. She was employed by and retired from the State of Maryland Public Defenders Office where she worked as a paralegal.

Martha ("Retta") made many friends wherever she went. She loved cooking, styling hair, playing board games and talking on the phone. Retta was very big on family, and was a very caring and devoted mother and grandmother.

She leaves to mourn: her daughter, Ophelia; two grandchildren, Noah and Noel; six brothers, Harold, Billy, Richard, Jessie, Peter and Leroy; her sister, Angela Bigelow-Barnes; brother-in-law, Mitchell Barnes; and sister-in-law, Connie Hamlett a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends
