Pastor Martha G. Russ, 86 years old was a powerful and anointed woman who was highly favored of God, transitioned from her natural home to her spiritual home on October 29, 2016 in our home in Baltimore, Maryland.

Pastor Russ was born November 15, 1929 in Preston, Maryland to the late James, Sr. and Alberta George. She was one of eleven children of which Alfred, Thomas, Estella, James, and Lester preceded her in death.

Pastor Russ was educated in Preston, Maryland. Pastor Russ was married to the late Bishop Robert Russ on July 4, 1953, who recently passed to be with the Lord on February 16, 2016. They were married for 62 years. Pastor Russ began her work for the Lord at Farmers Memorial Church of God in Christ in Jonestown, Maryland. Upon moving to Baltimore she attended Baltimore City Community College to become certified in Geriatrics.

Over the years, Pastor Russ served as an Assistant Pastor under the leaderships of Bishop Burns (Wilmington, Delaware), Bishop C. Lyles (Baltimore, Maryland), Pastor B. Brown (Baltimore), Bishop Edwards (Baltimore) and Bishop Russ (Baltimore). She was a highly motivated person who was committed to doing God's work. She partiCipated in some community outreach programs that addressed the needs of the community such as AmeriCorps and The Maryland Food Bank. She would even cook Thanksgiving dinner, provide clothing, and shelter for those who were in need.

Pastor Russ was a devoted wife, mother, aunt, sister, sister-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, mentor, spiritual consultant, and a prayer warrior. Most of all she was an inspiration and role model to us all. Day or night, she was always there for someone who was in need.

Pastor Russ was a sharp dresser who enjoyed cooking, singing, studying and teaching God's word. She enjoyed the company of her family as well as her church family. Pastor Russ has touched the lives of so many people everywhere she went and will be sincerely missed by everyone.

Pastor Russ leaves to cherish her loving memory: daughter, Anita Carter; two grandchildren, Curlene and Daeja; one great grandchild, Dante; four brothers; Apostle A.
