Daughter of the late Elmore and Katie Saunders, Martha was born on December 4, 1938 in North Carolina. She departed this life on January 25, 2007 after a lenghty illness. Martha received her education in the North Carolina Public School System. She chose to become a homemaker so she could devote herself to raising her children. On July 8, 1967, Martha married Joseph Spence. They were blessed with three daughters and three sons. Martha made numersous friends wherever she went. She was a true friend, a devoted wife and mother. Martha will since rely be missed by everyone who knew her. Martha leaves to mourn: two daughters - Cynthia Webb and Deborah Spence and too sons - Joseph Spence and Dwayne Spence. Also mourning her passing: son-in-law - Donald Webb and daughter-in-law - Denise Spence and eight grandchildren: Andre, Teddy, Leroy, Dwayne, Ricky, Dominic, Nikki, and Shavontae, and a host of great-grandchildren. Also sharing in this sorrow are Martha's special friends and staff from Future Care Sandtown Nursing Home.
