Obituary

MARVIN KEVIN GAITHER, the thirteenth child of Aubrey and Elaine Gaither, was born on March 10, 1959. Marvin passed peacefully on Sunday, April 26th in Glen Burnie, Maryland. Marvin was educated in the Anne Arundel County Public Schools and graduated from Glen Burnie High School. He furthered his education by receiving his certification in Refrigeration, Climate Control, and Clean Air from RETS Electronic School (now TESST College). He furthered his training as an Oil Burner Technician, a Heat Pump Installer, and a Gas Heating Technician and ultimately earned his license as a Master Mechanic. Marvin started his own business as an air conditioning repairman. He always carried his pager or phone because he might be called any time of day or night. He usually had the right part to fix whatever needed repairing. He was a jack of all trades. You could call him any time you had a problem with your heat or air conditioning system. Once he arrived he fixed any problem you had without giving it a second thought. Most of his colleagues were amazed at his wealth of knowledge and expertise. Marvin loved to be the master chef at all the family cookouts. He would make his special barbecue sauce and prepare the meats. He would always take time to play with his nieces and nephews. Whenever they arrived the first person they looked for was Uncle Marvin. He would round up all the children for a game of kickball or softball. Marvin would always finish the day by pitching horseshoes with his relatives and friends. One of Marvin's favorite pastimes was debating over the current issues of the day. He was well versed on politics, ancestry, sports, and astronomy. The conversations were always lively and thought provoking. He could argue with the best of them. It's not surprising that his favorite show was Jeopardy. Marvin was very passionate about his opinions and beliefs. Marvin leaves to cherish his memory his son, Anthony and a special nephew, Rusty, who was more like his little brother. He also leaves to mourn his memory eight Siblings Constance Burley, Llewellyn Gaither, Gordon Gaither, Barbara Brightful, Dexter Gaither, Deborah Smoot, Angela Gaither-Scott, Michael Gaither, four brothers-in-law, four sisters- in-law, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
