IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marvin Alexis
Hewlin
August 4, 1948 – September 22, 2019
MARVIN ALEXIS HEWLIN departed this life on Sunday afternoon,
September 22, 2019 and went home to be with his Lord and Savior
Jesus Christ.
Marvin was the youngest of six children born to the late Samuel and
Marguerite Hewlin on August 4, 1948. Marvin was raised in East
Baltimore where he received his education in the Baltimore City
Public School System. In 1968, he became a proud graduate of Paul
Laurence Dunbar Senior High School. Soon after high school, at the
age of eighteen, Marvin began working at Baltimore City Circuit
Court. In 1976, Marvin and Glenda Page were joined in marriage and
from this union they had two daughters. Throughout his life, he was
committed to his job which gained him a promotion as a supervisor of
the Court Clerks where he retired after 40 years of service. After he
retired, Marvin continued to do contractual work with the state.
Marvin was baptized at two weeks old into the Catholic Church. He
was dedicated and committed to everything he did. He was particularly
passionate about the work he did within organizations for the Catholic
Church. Marvin was a lifelong member of St. Francis Xavier Church
and was an active and faithful parishioner. He was a former member
of the Mass Choir, an active member of New Horizon of Men and the
Men's Chorus.
Marvin had a great love for line dancing, ballroom dancing, pictures,
traveling, family, friends, and especially football Sunday to watch his
favorite team the Ravens. He was known for his hats, his suits and his
swag. He was very meticulous about his appearance and made sure
every hat matched every suit. Marvin loved his family unconditionally
especially his five girls. He would not pass up an opportunity to spend
time with his daughters and granddaughters. He made sure to attend
any event that they were involved in with his camera on hand.
Marvin made a lasting memory on anyone that he met. He was very
sociable and loved to be in the company of others. Marvin will forever
be remembered for his enjoyment of life.
He leaves to cherish in his memory, his daughters Tiffany Franklin
(Michael); Teresa Hewlin; granddaughters, Morgan and Meagan
Franklin, Paige Hewlin; sister Elaine Conway; nephew and niece;
numerous cousins; a special circle of friends; and his church family at
Saint Francis Xavier; a host of other relatives, and friends.
