Marvin Joseph "Prop" Matthews, son of Zetta Matthews and the late Earl Matthews was born in Baltimore, Maryland on April 16, 1967. He was called home on January 7, 2021.

Marvin attended Baltimore City Schools. After graduating from Forest Park high school, he attended Norfolk State University in Virginia with a full scholarship.

Marvin loved art, he could draw anything; he loved doing Sudoku puzzles and doing tattoos. He worked with his father on the school bus and held other jobs in the city.

Marvin was always helping people in the neighborhood. Well loved by everyone.

Marvin leaves to celebrate his life: his son, Joshua Sr.; two sisters, Sheila Dargan (Michael) and Deneen Swann; one brother, Earl Matthews III (Jessica); three granddaughters, Jahiya, Kiya and Elenin; one grandson, Joshua Jr.; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
