Marvin
Wells
Sep 28, 1963 — Aug 5, 2026
Baltimore
MR. MARVIN WELLS, affectionately nicknamed “Merv” by his co- workers, was born on September 28, 1962 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Reverend Jacob Wells Sr. and Mamie Ruth Wells. Marvin was suddenly called home to Glory on August 5th, 2026. Marvin was the youngest son and the fourth of five children born to his parents. His sisters Mary bp: Thomas and Angela A. Wells preceded him in death.
Marvin, being raised in a Christian home and also being a child of a Baptist Minister, accepted Christ as a young adolescent. Marvin was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System. His primary education began at Bentalou Elementary School, transferring to Grove Park Elementary School in the late sixties and went on to graduate from Forest Park High School in 1980.
Marvin was a loyal and dedicated employee. He was hired as a Facilities Technician at Stella Maris Hospice and Nursing Home in Timonium shortly after graduating and was employed there for a lengthy number of years. His leadership skills were demonstrated once he was promoted to a supervisor position. Marvin was additionally employed at Multi-Medical Center in Towson and finally retired after twenty-five years of employment. at Loyola University in 2022.
Marvin was blessed with two children. His first child and only son, Tavon Wells was born in 1986. In 1989 he met the love of his life, Rhoda Rogers whom he later married and from their love in 1990, his second child and only daughter, Monique Wells was born.
Marvin was a somewhat reserved, loyal and humble-spirited man who deeply loved his wife, Mom, and family. He seemed to enjoy the simple things in life. He minded his own business but would absolutely stand up and step up for himself and his loved ones. He was deeply devoted to and loved his wife and it was displayed when he gladly took on the role of her main caregiver after she became ill. He told everyone that he took no credit or praise and that God was his source and provided him the strength to care for her, Marvin had a heart of gold and was loved by all, family, co-workers as well as friends. His word was his bond and if he made a promise you could take it to the bank.
Marvin's love language was definitely food. He took great pleasure in sitting down to eat a tasty meal or two prepared by his Mom or youngest Sister Renee while living at home. He was at times playful and enjoyed laughing, joking and teasing his children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces and nephews, but they all knew and understood that it was all done in fun and love. He just loved to poke fun and play with the children especially, and on occasion even his Mom, it didn’t matter. Even though most would view him as being a little shy, Marvin would definitely get up and cut a rug on the dance floor at a party or social gathering and thoroughly enjoyed doing so.
Marvin had a love for watching sports, especially football and of course his favorite NFL team was The Baltimore Ravens.
Marvin slipped away from us way too soon, but there is no doubt that he will be forever carved into the fibers of our hearts. He leaves to cherish his proud legacy: his wife, Rhoda Wells; son, Tavon Wells; daughter, Monique Wells; stepsons, Fred and James Jones; stepdaughter, Jernisha Oden; grandsons, Delontea Oden, Isaiah Wells, Shawn Fields, Del’Vaughn Stokes; granddaughter, brother, Jacob Wells Jr.; sister, Renee’ M.
