Obituary

Mary Marie Ali, daughter of the late Eliijah Hatch and Mary McDonald Hatch departed this life after a lengthy illness 9o October 12, 2010. Mary was the middle child of three daughters raised by her loving father. She was preceded in death by her younger sister, Rita and brother, Clarence. Her aunts, Hilda Dorsey and Martha Johnson played a vital role in her early childhood years. Mary was born and raised in the Freetown Community and later became part of the Freetown Improvement Association. Mary received her education in the Anne Arundel County Public School System, graduating from Wailey H. Bates High School in 1959. She met and married the love of her life, Mongure after a six year courtship. Mary and Mongure shared a wonderful life together of fourty-eight years. she gave birth to her only son, Gregory in 1957. Upon graduating high sch9ool she entered the workforce beginging her employment at the Epteins Department Store. Mary had a strong work ethic and was very dedicated to her work. After more than thiry years of service she retired from the C & P Telephone Company in 1997 with full benefits. Mary was reared in the church at a youg age. She was a faithful member of Hall United Medodist Church and was a member of the Bennett Little Star Lighters as a young girl. As she matured in her faith, she became a member of the Flower Circle and the United Methodist Women. Once her health failed she enjoyed sharing in bible study at home with her husband. Mary had many friends in her lifetime developing a very special bond with goldie Oden, Margertha Whittaker, Willie Hall and Ruby Handly. Talented, she was with her gift of sewing and stain glass making. Her hobbies included photography and collecting items such as porcelain dalls, poecelain eggs and antiques from all over the world. Mary truly enjoyed spending time with her family. Traveling was a passion, and she loved traveling to various places with her husband such as San Juan, Mexico, Alaska and touring the south visiting Monqure's family. She was a true nature lover and loved flowers and just spending time outside in her garden. She leaves to cherish her memory; her loving and dedicated husband, Mongure; son Gregory; sister, Hilda Hatch, three grandchildren, tonika, temppest and Kendra; twoo great-grandchildren, Mikiyah and Keane affectionately known as "Smooth"; three aunts, Marhta Johnson, Hilda Dorsey and Florene Harvey; brother-in-law, William White; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
