MARY ELIZABETH BERRY, beloved daughter of the late Reverend George W. Smith and Ricie Cooper Smith, was born on March 9, 1915 in Washington, D.C. She departed this life on October 5, 2013 after a brief illness. Mary, better known as "Lizzy," was the second of ten children (eight preceded her in death Pauline, George, Odessa, Charles, Paul, Irene, Olivia and Minnette). She received her education in the Washington, D.C. and Baltimore City public school systems. Mary gave her life to Christ at a young age. She met and married the late Oscar Berry at; age eighteen, and he preceded her in death after fifty-five years of marriage. Mary began working at the age of fourteen, and after working various jobs she landed a job as a caterer for Linda Brown's Catering Company, from which she retired after thirty-five years. Mary believed that hard work and dedication was the key to earning a successful living. She was punctual when it came to time management and strived for perfection in whatever she did. She was kindhearted and giving to anyone who asked. A pillar to her family, Mary was one whom you could truly rely upon. In her earlier years, Mary's hobbies included sewing, traveling the United States with her club members and taking trips with her sisters. Mary leaves to cherish her memory: one brother, Thomas E. Smith; six nephews, Paul (Rosalyn), Gilson (Cynthia), Barry, Brian (Delia), Charles and Edward; and three nieces, Alfreda, Wendy (John) and Denna. Viewing Joseph H.
