MARY VIRGINIA BROCK (age 72), born May 10, 1942 in Caswell County, NC, fell asleep in death on July 29, 2014 at Sinai Hospital, Baltimore, MD. She was the only daughter of the late Odie Yancey and Mary Graves Yancey. Mary was a high-spirited, loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She had the most loving and generous heart and touched many with her infectious smile and endearing laugh. All who had an opportunity to indulge will sorely miss her legendary cooking and baking, especially her deviled eggs, sweet potato pie and pineapple-coconut cake! Her greatest joy was spending time with her son, two grandchildren and especially her great-granddaughter, Bria. Bria often entertained her great-grandma with song and dance and lively chit-chat, putting a wide grin on her great- grandma's face and causing her to say, "I just love to hear her talk!" She also looked forward to the many long and varied conversations and visits with her brother, Phillip. Mary is preceded in death by her three brothers Marshall (Sonny Boy) Yancey, James Henry Yancey and Roosevelt Yancey. She is survived by: her husband of fifty-one years, Walter Brock; only child, Wayne Brock and daughter-in-law, Stephanie Brock; grandchildren, Wayne Brock II and Shaina Brock; great-granddaughters, Bria Brock and Summer Brock; two brothers, Clarence Phillip Yancey and Willard (Cricket) Yancey; aunt, Mary Wallce Yancey; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
