IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary Ellen
France
March 21, 1942 – April 23, 2022
Mary Ellen France was one of eight children born to the late Levy and Mary
Ford in Halifax, North Carolina. After high school she moved to Baltimore,
Maryland where she met and married the late Douglas France and together
they have five children.
She loved the Lord, joined Mt. Olive Methodist Church, Baltimore, Maryland
where she served as a dedicated and faithful member of the Ushers ministry.
Her loving and caring spirit were not only seen and felt , she was also known to
help anyone she could and did it with a joyful spirit, jokes and anything to lift
one's spirit and to bring laughter! Her love for cooking also enhanced everyone's
love for her as she found joy in feeding everyone! To know her was to love her
and her love for people and outreach to many touched their lives and her
husband, children and grandchildren were the loves of her life.
Shortly after her diagnosis of pancreatic cancer, her health began to decline
rapidly. She fought a good fight and on a Saturday night, the fight became too
much for her so God stepped in and said to her "It is finished come on up and I'll
give you rest!" She close her eyes and went home at 11:45 P.M at Gilchrist
Hospice Care, Towson , Maryland with her sister Jean by her side.
She was predeceased by her husband, Douglas France, son, Quinton Ford and
beloved daughter, Tonya McClary. Left to cherish previous memories are her
sons , Kenneth Ford of North Carolina and Imani ElShabazz (Tonya),
Baltimore, Maryland; daughter, Roxie France (Nuriddin), Son-in-law, Rodney
McClary, four granddaughters, Lakia Ford and Kenoa Singletary, Baltimore,
Maryland and Quintona Winston (Robert), Virginia and Trea Ford, North
Carolina; seven grandsons, Warren Childs, Corbin McClary (Summer) ,
Tishowmby Dawson, Quintin Ford, Marcus McClary and Eric Howard; twelve
