IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary Louise
Jackson
March 24, 1942 – May 16, 2022
Mary Louise Jackson was born on March 24, 1942, to the late Nellie Sue Thomas
and Roosevelt Neely in Greenville, South Carolina. After a life well lived and a tenacious battle with
cancer, she departed her earthly life on Monday, May 16, 2022. She was one of six children.
Mary relocated to Baltimore, Maryland with her parents at the tender age of five years old and
received her education in the Baltimore City Public School System. Mary graduated from Carver
Vocational-Technical High School with a certificate in Cosmetology; very fitting as she was known for
her chic and trendy hairstyles. In 1964, Mary started her career at Springfield Hospital Center Nursing
Department. She was hard working, dependable, dedicated and most of all loved by her co-workers
and patients; she always exemplified patience, consistency and integrity. Even after being told she
would no longer be able to work at Springfield Hospital Center, she told her daughter "I have to let my
job know I'm calling out tonight because, I can't make it in". Notably, she was a valued employee for
58 long years.
Mary was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt to many and enjoyed spending quality time
with her family. she also enjoyed crocheting, babysitting (babies NOT big kids!) and her infamous trips
to Wal-Mart. Outside of working, Wal-Mart was Mary's next favorite place to be. Affectionately called
"MaMa" by her grandchildren, kind-spirited, generous, and loved to see others happy and laughing,
she will be missed by all.
Mary leaves to cherish, celebrate and honor her memory: three daughters; Lolita "Lee-Lee, April, and
Jasmine; one son, Kevin; son in law, Darnell; 10 grandchildren; Kendra, Michael "Mook"
", Terrence,
Kevin "Skeet", Kristian, Niesha, Kierston, Kayla, Asia and Brittany; 13 great-grandchildren, Taliyah,
Mason,
Byron, Logan, Milan, Kaycyn, Konner;, Nori, Madisyn, Da"je, Malassia, Dannasa and Bray-lan; two sisters,
Deborah Murray and Hazel Farrell; three special friends, Wendy, Lynn and Tammy; a host of nieces,
nephews, cousins, special friends and co-worker too numerous to name.
Mary was preceded in death by both of her parents; son, Mark; great-granddaughter, Kiara; sisters,
Rachel Simms and Denise Thomas; brother, Anthony Neely; brother-in-laws, Mike and Gregory.
