Mary L. Canty-Roary was born on September 2, 1934 to the late
Clayton and Thelma Hannibal Canty. She was married to her beloved
husband James Roary for 63 years. She entered into eternal rest on
February 22, 2017.

She was educated in the South Carolina Public Schools and attended
Carver Technical Vocational School of Baltimore, Maryland, where she
graduated as a cosmetologist. She enjoyed styling hair for everyone.

Mary dedicated much of her time to her church, New Bethel Baptist
Church, where she was a lifetime member and a usher for many years.

Mrs. Roary was a loving and caring person, who loved people.

Mrs. Roary is survived by: her husband, James Roary for 63 years; two
daughters, Barbara Pitts (James) and Ivy Bellany (Lawrence) of Balti-
more, MD; one adopted son, Wayne Dove of Baltimore, MD; eight
grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 10 great great grandchildren; four
sons, preceded her in death, Edward, Vernon, Anthony and Michael
Roary; three sisters, Nettie Ford, Louise Jenkins and Virginia Canty all
of Bishopville, SC; three brothers, Clayton Canty Jr. of Rocky Mountain,
NC, Nathaniel Canty of Baltimore, MD and James Edward Hannibal of
Philadelphia, PA; five sisters-in-law, Jessie R. Sowell; four brothers-in-
law, Howard, Allen, Paul and Grant Roary and many other relatives and
friends.
