Mary Frances Shaw, who was affectionately known by her family and friends as "Doosie", was born in Newport News, Virginia, April 5, 1934 to the late Louis Harris and Benjamin Coles. She entered her eternal rest on June 23,2014. Mary came to live in Baltimore, Maryland at an early age. She attended the Baltimore City Public School System. While Mary was on her way to take her baby sister (Sug) to the movies, she ran across the love of her life, Mallie Shaw. The two were united inmatrimony on August 9, 1952, andfrom this union, eleven children were born. Doosie became the version of Madea to her family. Doosie was extremely funny and would speak whatever was on her mind. If she liked you, you would know it! Mary now joins her two children that proceeded her in death, Melvin and Myra (Kitten). Also proceeding her in death were her siblings, Thomas, Silas, Boosie and Noonie. Mary's spirit lives forever in the hearts of her nine children, Elijah, Fee Wee, Sue, Annette, Michael, Wanda, Lu Lu, My My and Don; six sons-in-law, Larry, John, Vincent, Holley, Tony and Teddy; three daughters-in-law, Pat Ferdine and Keisha; three sisters-in-law, Barbara, Pam and Louistine; one brother, Will Coles; fifty-five grandchildren, one hundred and eighteen great grandchildren, twenty-eight great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
