Mary Alice transitioned to her heavenly home on August 1, 2015 at Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care, Northwest Hospital in Baltimore, MD. She was born in Mars Hill, NC on July 6, 1934 to the late John Avery and Ida Young Ray. Mary Alice joined Mount Olive Baptist Church in Mars Hill at a young age and was a faithful member until she moved to New York. After graduating from Stephens- Lee High School in Asheville, NC, Mary Alice moved to New York where she met and married Jarvis Watson. To that union two children were born, Terrance J. Watson and Kevin A. Watson. She joined the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Westbury, NY where she was active on the senior usher board and served in many other capacities. Jar vis and Mary Alice moved to Prince George's County Maryland in 1995 where they lived until the death of Jarvis in 1999. Mary Alice then moved to Baltimore where she united with the Edmondson Heights Seventh-Day Adventist Church and served faithfully until her health would no longer permit her to attend. Mary Alice held several positions as a home health care nurse as well as other positions. Mary Alice had many friends in both New York and Maryland. Her passion was cooking and entertaining her family and friends. She was always on the go, keeping busy until her health began to fail. Mary Alice leaves to cherish her loving memory two sons Terrance (Gardenia) of Westbury, NY and Kevin of Hagerstown, MD; two granddaughters, Jasmine and Camellia Watson; one grandson Aaron Watson; and one great grandson; two sisters, Louise (Elijah) Braxton and Sylvia Stokely both of Norfolk, VA, one brother, Alonzo (Agnes) Ray of Mars Hill, NC, and one brother-in-law, Cleveland (Tony), Watson of Maryland and a special family friend, Glenda Brockett. In addition to her parents, Mary Alice was preceded in death by her husband Jarvis Watson, four sisters; Irene McDowell, Edith Young, Iona Smith, Patria Coone and Flossie Kennedy; one brother, Albert Ray and one Goddaughter, Natalie Hurdle. She also leaves to cherish her memory a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Memorial Service Edmondson Heights SDA Church
