Matt Stephenson son of the late Millard and Ada Mason-Stephenson was born on June 12, 1925 in Whalen, Virginia. He departed this life on Febuary 12, 2008 at St. Joseph Hospital after a lenghty illness. Matt attended public school in Whalen, Virginia. He relocated to dBaltimore in 1953 where he was employed with Baltimore Gas and Electric until he retired in 1990. Matt frequently received recognition awards for his outstanding work performance andexcellent attendance during his employment. He joined Union Temple Baptist Church in 1956 and ministered in the following positions; Custodian, Usher, Trustee, Armor Bearer to the late Pastor Churn for many years. Matt truly loved his church and fully supported every minister showing his devotion by faithfully attending every service and program until his illness in 2001. Matt loved children and was very active in his community where everyone who knew him always affectionately called himm ''Pop Pop.'' He was honored by Channel 45 News for his faithfulness and dedication in serving the families and children in his community. He was a devoted husband to the late Yvonne Stephenson and a loving father and grandfather who loved his family unconditionally. He leaves to cherish his memories; one daughter; Ada Stephenson-Williams and three sons; Moses, Randollph and Dionne Stephenson; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; seven stepchildren; eleven great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; one brother; Jack Stephenson; two sisters, Victoria Lowery and Nellie Mae Martin; two devoted caregivers, Rosemay Peay and Aaron Gibbons; close and dearest Ann Smith, whom he loved like a sister and a host of nieces, nephews and other friends.
