On April 11,2017 Mattie Ree Walton was called home to be with her late husband Richard and their four children who preceded them in death.

Mattie was born in Keysville, Virginia. The daughter of the late George and Bertha Ann Fowlkes also of Keysville, Virginia.

Mattie and Richard were blessed with ten children. She leaves six children to rejoice in her memory, Annie McDuffie from Wilmington, NC, Connie Hamlett of Anchorage, Alaska, Shirley Walton, Carylin Walton, Chery Walton, and Richard Walton Jr., all of Baltimore, MD. She was blessed with seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; two sons-in- law, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Her siblings Hattie and Sally survive her while Janie, Roosevelt, Linwood, Benny and Mable preceded her in death.

Mattie was a employee of Summit Nursing Home for 31 years as a cook.
