HERMAN "MAURICE" MITCHELL was born the third of six children
to the late Marian B. Mitchell and Mozelle Irby on September 16,
1933 in Laurens, South Carolina. He lived in Laurens until his late
teens and then relocated with his family to Baltimore, MD.

Maurice accepted Christ at an early age and attended several
churches during his lifetime.

He served in the U.S. Army and worked in numerous careers.

Maurice enjoyed the races and loved making a bet or two. In fact,
attending the Preakness was a yearly highlight. He loved
travelling, going out, and socializing with friends. Also, let us not
forget that Maurice "dressed to impress" - style was his middle
name. Maurice was a quiet spirit that was rarely raised to anger.
He will be remembered for his love of family.

Maurice was preceded in death by his mother and father, all of his
siblings (Willie B., Mary, Betty, Berkette "Bert," and Florence
"Punchie"), and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He leaves to cherish his memory: a daughter, Rohnda Washington
(Douglas); a son, Maurice, Jr. (Tina); four grandchildren: Latavia,
Kieara, Kaiya, Maurice, III; one great-grandson, Christopher, and
one sister-in-law, Lenora "Lucille" Mitchell, as well as many
nieces, nephews, cousins and host of other relatives and friends.
Open heartedness is a character trait that many of Maurice's
family 'and friends possess; however, the family would like to
acknowledge and thank Hattie Lue Robinson "Pat" for her
steadfast unconditional friendship, concern, care, and love of
