Obituary

Maxine Forestine Cooks, born the the late Isaac & Elmina Jackson in Washington DC, on March 2, 1949, departed this life on October 2, 2025, after a long illness.

Maxine received her education in both the Baltimore City & Philadelphia public school systems. Maxine worked for many years as a Nurse Aide and CNA eventually retiring from Keswick Multi-Care Center.

Maxine was an avid lover of music and spent some of her most memorable moments singing songs, dancing, and cutting up with her grand and great-grandchildren, who affectionately called her "Na-na". Maxine had an unbreakable bond with her sisters. Maxine also had a great love and unbreakable bond with her children, whom she cherished and adored.

Maxine loved animals, especially elephants. Maxine was the ultimate neighborhood Mom as she mothered so many from the neighborhoods where she raised her children. Maxine was a fighter up to the very end, when she took some of the last moments of her life to tell her firstborn son, Lamont, "you are my heart" as her sister Dorothy sat nearby, comforting "Max" as she transitioned.
