Obituary

Melvin Packard Hunt, known to his friends as Pluto, was born in Baltimore, Maryland on Febuary 19, 1929, to the late Jessie Hunt and Donald Henderson. He was the only child out of their union. He departed this life on September 30, 2006 after a lengthy illness. He received his education in the Baltimore City Public School System. He later served his country in the United States Army 1951-1954. He was a former member of the Elks Club. He worked for the Atlantic Furniture Company for many years. Later he was employed with Whiting-Turner Construction Company until he became ill. He was a fun-loving outgoing person and was the love of his mother's heart. Baptized at Leadenhall Baptist Church, he later joined First Baptist Church of Cherry Hill. He was blessed and was proud to work as a doorkeeper in the house of the Lord. He leaves to cherish his loving memory; two sons, William and Byron; three daughters, Cordelia, Sylvia and Doreen; two sons-in-law, James Hill and George Moore; seven stepchildren, eleven grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, two devoted cousins, William Hunt and Delores Brown; and a host of other relatives and friends. We will miss our father Melvin. God has now made a place for him with his parents. No more sickness, no more worry, what a fellowship, what a joy devine, just praising God all the day long.
