Merdis Mae white, daughter of the late Eddie G. and Angeline McCutcheon was born December 8, 1941 in Florence, South Carolina. She departed this life suddenly on October 23, 2012. Merdis received her early education in James town, South Carolina school system. he arrived in Baltimore, MD. in 1963. In the early 70;s she worked at the Holiday Inn, Notre Dame College, and she was also was a factory worker. In the late 70's into the 80's she became a private housekeeper until she became ill. she met Leroy White in 1966 and later married in 1979. Jama, as she was affectionately known by everyone, was kind, loving, and open-hearted. she opened her home to everyone with a smile and a meal. she loved spending time with her husband, siblings, children, grandchildren, and everyone she knew. Jama rarely missed a night of bingo. You could catch her quite often with her bingo bag and husband headed to Delta bingo where she befriended many. She was considered a survivor after her battle with breast cancer. Not showing any shame but, loving her bald head, because it was a symbol of her fight. In addition she offered kind words and prayers to anyone who was battling this disease. giving thanks to God for bringing her through trails and tribulations. She leaves to mourn and cherish her memory a loving and devoted husband, Leroy; children, David Jeanette Carter Jr., Samuel and Benjamin Carter, Sylvia Stern, Brenda and Linda Carter, Yolanda, Oliver and Princes white; brothers, Eddie, Phillip, and Winfield McCutcheon; sisters, Betty and Dora Beauford, Two brothers-in-law, Thomas White, Robert White, Three sisters-in-law, Shirley Carroll, rose Finwick Mattie white a goddaughter, Yvette McCutcheon, a very special and devoted niece who checked on her daily, Monica McCray, four aunts, three uncles, twenty-four grandchildren, thirty-seven great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Her parents, sister Catherine Harrod, and brother David McCutcheon preceded hr in death. And behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give give every man according as his work shall be.
