Michael Peter Garner Sr. was born on June 30,1950 to the late Peter Garner and the late Cora Lee Garner in Baltimore, MD. On Saturday January 24, 20l5, Michael departed this life after a yearlong battle with cancer. He received his education in the Baltimore City school system. In 1967 Michael married Joyce Cleary, and two children came from that union. Michael was a long time employee of the Lutheran Hospital as a cook. He remained employed with the company when they merged with Liberty Medical Center, and when Liberty Medical Center Merged with Bon Secour, from which he retired. He loved wearing hats; especially this brown cowboy hat that earned him the nickname "Cowboy." Michael "LOVED" to sing. It didn't matter when or where. He could be in the market or at the doctor's office. You could be having a conversation with him and he would break out in a loud song in the middle of the conversation. You couldn't tell him that he wasn't the best singer in the world. He loved westerns and action movies and would watch the same ones over and over again. Michael would sit and eat candy and Big Texas Cinnamon Rolls while watching his movies. He enjoyed buying candy for his niece Meyonna, and his nephews Milan, and Little Chris who would often help him, keep him company, and check on him throughout the day during his illness. Michael.often spoke of His oldest niece Charlotte, and how she looked out for him. He enjoyed her company and the time that she would sit and talk to him, as he would say, "That Charlotte is crazy," then burst out laughing. Michael loved his sister Tiny's cooking. He would talk to his daughter about what she had cooked and how good her food was; especially her Black Eye Peas. He could often be found sitting across the street at the ball field watching what was going on in the neighborhood. He knew a little bit of everyone. Michael leaves to cherish his memory: daughter Shanon and her husband Kevin, son Michael and his wife Vashti, granddaughters Neema and Jasmine, great granddaughter Jaymee, grandsons Kevin and Michael, his sister Carrollton (Tiny), his brothers Jerry and Hassan( June), his ex-wife Joyce, a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
