Obituary

MICHAEL NOEL JOHNSON was born Tuesday, November 5, 1946 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Newrill Smith and the late Ruth Johnson. Michael departed this world suddenly from his home in Baltimore, Maryland on Saturday, June 29, 2013. Conceived in love, Michael began his journey in life. Taking on man's challenges in Baltimore City Schools and the School of "Hard Knocks"(which he called the Old School). Defending his country, Michael served in the United States Army for four years . After coming home from Vietnam, he attended Work Welding School then worked and retired from the Bethlehem Steel Company. Michael then made a career at and retired from the United States Postal Service, where he was known as "Iron Mike." Michael married Estelle Summers and from this union had three children - Angela, Ivory and Michael. He later married Linnie Felton and from that union he had one child - Rodney. During his later years, he embraced his greatest friend and love, his angel, Sandra Pretlow. Michael loved his family and working on his ranch. He grew corn, tomatoes, watermelon and string beans in his garden. He took pride in being a handyman. He also loved fishing and helping others. In his pastime, he enjoyed traveling, and visiting various casinos. Michael enjoyed his family and loved making his rounds to gather his "crew" (that's what he called his family) together. Preceding Michael in death were: three brothers - James, Barry, Mark; one brother-in-law Ary; one granddaughter Takira and one niece Niccola Johnson. Michael leaves to cherish in his memory: the love of his life Sandra Pretlow, two daughters - Angela Walker (Larry), and Ivory Pringles (Danny); two sons - Little Michael Johnson (Katrina) and Rodney Johnson; three brothers - Johnny (Linda), Craig (Cheryl) and Eric (Delia); two sisters - Wilhelmina and Tracy (Leroy); six grandchildren; three great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family including the Beckwith family - Wade, Sheryl and Kevin; "The Thomases" - Lucky, Shawn and Dee; three dear friends - Ben Blackwell, Melvin Gladney and Mervin Cook and a host of other family and friends.
