Michael McKinley Johnson, son of Joseph and the late Emily Smith Johnson was born on July 6, 1944 in Baltimore, MD. He departed this life on Sunday, August 17, 2008 after a lenghty illness. "Mike" received his education in the Baltimore City School Systems and was raised in Cherry Hill. He was employed with the Baltimore City Housing Authority for many years until he resigned to work as a bus driver for the MTA. "Mike" drove the bus through the city and county of Baltimore for 30-1/2 years until he retired in 2004. Driving the bus was no easy task and on more than one occasion he was forced to defend himself from less than kind passengers. "Mike" was married in 1972 and out of this union he had one son Michael Jelani whom he nickname "J". In 1975 he legally adopted his two stepsons Stuart and Duane Johnson. Unfortunately, after many years, his marriage ended in divorce. "Mike" was a quiet person who often kept you guessing about what he was thinking. He could sometimes be stubborn but was excellent cook and expert gardener. He liked the slots and enjoyed taking an occasional bus trip to Atlantic City. All who knew him, remember his love for cigars and pipe tobacco. He leaves to mourn his son "Michael "J"" Stuart and Duane, Granddaughter Jaylah, sistes, Jacqueline, Leslie, Paulette and Angie and the late Carolyn, brother, Allan, Joey and the late Paul and Larry, father Joseph Johnson and a host of other relatives and friends.
