Obituary

Michael D. Sparrow 1 the son of the late Warren Sr. and Katherine Sparrow, was born on October 12, 1952, in Baltimore, Maryland. He departed this life on November 25, 2017, after a lengthy illness.

Michael attended Baltimore City Public Schools and received his high school diploma. Shortly after finishing high school he joined the U.S. Marine Corp. He spent four years there and received an honorable discharge. Upon completion of the military he attended college in Ohio for 2 years.

Michael received his Class B license and moved on to be a truck driver for several years. He went on to drive Baltimore City school buses. Michael then went on to work for the State of Maryland's Highway Administration, as an Engineer. He worked there for a little more than 17 years, until he retired.

Michael met and married the love of his life, Irma Grant, on October 15, 1982. Michael had one step daughter that he raised, 5 grandchildren and one great-grand: Victor, Michael and Marco Gaskin, Trinity Katherine Sparrow, and Tyrese Malachi Sparrow (Malachi will carry on his family name, which meant the world to Michael), 1 great granddaughter, Trinity Grace Sparrow.

Michael's favorite pastime was watching sports on TV, football and baseball in particular. Star Trek was one of his favorite movies. Michael played tennis in his younger years.

Michael was a patient and quiet person that would help anyone in need. He enjoyed spending time with family, (especially the children), telling jokes, swimming and listening to good music. His favorite outings were family reunions and cook outs. For years Michael would take his nephews and grandsons to Ocean City (just him and the boys).

He leaves to cherish his memory: His wife Irma; one step daughter, Vivian B.; 4 grandsons, 1 granddaughter, 1 great granddaughter, 1 brother, Warren Jr.; 1 sister, Wanda; Aunt Frances, two sisters-in-law, Cynthia (Eddie) Bartee and Colethar Powell and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. His co-worker Reggie was a special friend.
