On Monday, October 24, 2011, Mildred LaRuth Holmes, daughter of the late William and Rosa Payton, quietly slipped into her NEW LIFE as the lord quietly delivered her spriit home to HIM. Born on October 1, 1923 in Greenville, North Carolina, she was affectionately known to family and friends as "Ruth". She moved to Baltimore, Maryland at a young age and attended Baltimore City Schools an later enlisted iin the United States Army Women's Army Corp. She later married her beloved husband Johns Henry Holmes, Jr., and out of this union two children were born; the late Jacqueline Patrice Lee-Chatadon and JoAnne Anita Rollins. "Ruth" was an avid seamstress who enjoyed designig and creating clothing including wedding gowns. She worked as a seamstress for Triangle Manufacturing Company for over twenty 20 years, until they went out of business. Following their closure, she was employed as a seamstress for Joseph A. Banks Clothiers untile she retired in January 1986. During her retirement, she continued to sew for family, friends, and church organizatons. "Ruth" gave her life to Christ and began her Christian birth at Simmons Memorial Baptist Church and continued it at Central Church of God where she enjoyed attending bible study, church services, and traveling with her church family inparticular, Sister Day
