Obituary

Mildred Lucille Shaw, daughter of the late Robert and Henrietta Fields, was born on December 2, 1923 in Baltimore, Maryland. On Saturday, December 12, 2020, Mildred received her wings and was reunited with her Lord and Savior. Mildred was preceded in death by her seven siblings. One sister, Evelyn and six brothers, Robert, James, Norvel, Earl, Lawrence and Howard; three grandsons, Mark, Brandon and Troy.

Mildred was educated in the Baltimore City Public Schools. In the early years, she worked at the Regal Laundry. Mildred married the love of her life Morgan Leroy Shaw and they remained married for over 40 years until the time of his death. From this union, one child was born, Leroy Benjamin Shaw. They also raised one Godson, Howard Alan Fields.

At an early age, Mildred accepted Jesus as her savior, she was a long-time member of Mount Zion Church. When the church moved, she joined the St. Luke United Methodist Church under the Pastorate of Rev. Charles A. Green. She was a faithful member of the Stewart Board and a member of the United Methodist Women. She also served on the Senior Choir, she had a beautiful soprano voice. Mildred loved to spend time with her family and friends. When working on catering jobs with Mr. Richard White and Geraldine, she would always end up on the dance floor with the guests instead of working. Her favorite dance was the "Electric Slide". Mildred was known for making the best cod fish cakes, potato salad and those delicious sugar cookies. It took her a while, but she finally passed the recipes to a few of her nieces. Mildred loved to dress from head to toe and was always clutching her favorite pocketbook. She kept it hanging around her neck. She loved to play dominos and pinochle with her friends and family into the late hours of the night.

Mildred was a great steward over all she had and planned well for her life on this earth.

She leaves to cherish her memory: a devoted son Leroy B. Shaw (Jerilynn); a loving Godson, Howard A. Fields (Lucille);two loving goddaughters, Tiffany and Breanna; one granddaughter, Charlene; three great-grandchildren, King, Mya and Robbie; nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces and nephews which she loved dearly and shared a special relationship with them all, a host of cousins and friends. She leaves two close friends, Ms. Mary Parker and Mr. Barton Bonds, and a special friend who cherished her dearly, Mr. William Allen. She will truly be missed.
