Obituary

Mildred Lorraine Turner was born March 7, 1927 to Anna and Charles Dixon.Mildred was raised in South Baltimore and educated in the Baltimore City Public Schools.

On January 19, 1944, Mildred married John Henry Turner.From this union came four children.Gloria Turner Gibson, Harold Jerome Turner, Charles William Turner and Valerie Turner.

After graduating from Carver Vocational Technical High School, Mildred spent her early years raising her four children and as a seamstress at Father and Son's tailors in Pikesville, Maryland. She later worked and retired from Social Security Administration in Woodlawn, Maryland.

Mildred departed this life on December 24, 2016 at the home of her beloved daughter Valerie Turner in Randallstown, Maryland.


Mildred was dearly loved by all who knew her.Mildred accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and spent her lifetime in prayer making sure her family continued in faith.Mildred was a gracious, caring and giving person.She welcomed all with open arms.Mildred was an active member in the Kingdom Life Church.She served on the Mothers Board, ministered and served meals to the homeless.Worked in the clothing ministry, passed out scripture tracts to the homeless, and worked in the nursery until her health began to fail.Her failing health required a move to Dacula, Georgia to live with her daughter Gloria Gibson.She later returned to Randallstown, Maryland and resided with daughter Valerie Turner until sunset.

Mildred was preceded in death by her loving husband John H. Turner, son Harold J. Turner, son in-law Ernest R. Gibson Jr., daughter-in-law Denise Turner, sisters, Ruth Dixon, Bernice Epps Chew, Nerissa Dixon Fuller, brother, Nathaniel Dixon, brothers in-law, Everett Sherman, Matthew Chew, and Isaac Watson.

Mildred leaves to cherish her fond memories, her loving and devoted children, Gloria Turner Gibson, Charles William Turner, Valerie Turner; four sisters, Delores Dixon Watson, Ellen Dixon Gonzales, Gertrude Dixon Sher- man, Cyanthia Dixon Maddox; three brothers, Charles Dixon, Arthur Dixon, Ronald Dixon; sisters in-law, Mary Dixon, Barbara Dixon and Velma Dixon; daughter in-law, Barbara Ralls Turner; eight grandchildren, [eri Gibson, Angela Gibson Mays, Ernest Gibson III, Deanna Turner, Sharyl Turner White, Shandria Turner Proctor, Charles W. Turner Jr. and Akeisha Turner; grandsons in-law; James White, Anthony Proctor, and Alan Mays; ten great grandchildren; Salim Proctor, Aigner Turner Chavis, Alana Mays, Tayleur White, Justin Turner, Joshua Turner, Iaelin White, Terron Page, Isabella Pettus, Charles W Turner III, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
