Obituary

Mildred Jenette Walker, was born February 4, 1935 in Bowie, Maryland. Mildred returned to her heavenly home on July 9, 2015 after a valiant battle with a long illness. Her belief in God and love for her family supported her struggle and gave her ultimate peace. Mildred had one brother, Carl who preceded her in death and three sisters. Mildred lived in Baltimore, MD with her 4 children, that she adored. Mildred loved her family very much and tried to make sure they had a good life. She loved being a mother. Two of her children predeceased her, daughter Vicotoria and son Vernon. Her son, Broderick took care of Mildred during her illness and was very attentive to her. According to Ryan, Broderick was Mildred's best friend. Her son Ryan lives out of town and while caring for her would speak loving and kind words to uplift her spirit and edify her as a woman and mother. She was blessed to have her two sons to take care of her. Mildred was married for 17 years to the love of her life Cornelius Walker until he went to glory. She was proud to be his wife and to be called "Mrs." Now Mildred is reunited with her love in heaven. To be quite honest, Mildred's true love was her granddaughters, Miriam and Mackenzie and great grandson, Kaevion. She would light up whenever she saw them or talked about them. Grandchildren was the best thing that could have happen to her. Let's not forget Mildred's other love, Star. Star is Mildred's cat that she truly loved. Mildred was a God fearing woman who loved studying the bible and memorizing scriptures. She attended Central Church of Christ, and Church of Christ in Glen Burnie and Woodlawn, Maryland. In the 60's and 70's Mildred wasemployed at Northwestern High School and Walbrook High School where she was the cafeteria cook. Cooking was her passion. Mildred also worked at the United States Postal Service which she was proud of and enjoyed working there. The part she loved the most was the people she worked with. After retiring, she remained close to three friends, Romaine, Cynthia and Arlene. Arlene was such a blessing to Mildred. She cared for her as if she was her own mother. We really appreciate the special kind of love Arlene provided. To know Mildred is to love her. She would tell you the truth as she saw it. Not to harm but only to help. Mildred was caring and giving. There would be times that she would cook to help others but wouldn't have food for herself. Mildred did not like nonsense or confusion. She loved a good conversation. She loved to laugh, cook, and talk on the phone with her family and friends. Mildred leaves to mourn her loss: sons, Broderick and Ryan; granddaughters, Miriam and Mackenzie; great grandson, Kaevion; three sisters, Colleen, Faye and Sharon; two brothers-in-law, Abdul and Julio; daughter-in-law, Barbara; special friends, Romaine, Cynthia and Arlene; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
