Obituary

Milton Vernon Ward, son of the late Vattie and Clifton Ward was born on July 23, 1922 in victoria Virginia. Our beloved Milton went home with his heavenly Father on July 15, 2008 after a lengthy illness. He preceded in death by his wife, Maria Ward, daughter Bernice Gibson and one sister, Pearl Munsford. Milton move to Baltimore with is family in 1927. He attended Balltimore City Public School and received specialized training in tailoring and welding. He was multi-talented with work history in a variety of fields. Milton could make anything from scratch. Later he served in the United States Army in World War II and departed the service with an honorable discharge. Milton was baptized in 1942 at Shiloh Baptist Church. Later, he joined Mount Lebanon Baptist Church in 1961. He lived to serve as Christ's Soldier, usher and church custodian. In April 2002, he recieved Mt. Lebanon's "Man of the Year Award." Milton met Maria Jones at Mt. Lebanon, which was the beginning of a lasting friendship. They were united in marriage. He really loved Maria. this marriage was a tresure to them both. Milton was affectionately called "Pop." Pop was always ready and willing to give others a helping hand. His favorite saying after coming home from the hospital, a family activity or church function, "I want to get loose like a goose." He loved to cook, laugh, listen to music and enjoy his family. He leaves to cherish his memory; four children, Frances Stuckey, Melviner Worrell Ray, Kathleen Carter Steve and Tyrone Ward, eleven grandchildren Aaron, Nathan, Vernon, Charlotte, Michael, Arnita, Jaquetta, Darien, Noy, Kira and Tyrone Jr.; fourteen great-grandchildren;one aunt, Estelle Jennings; one sister-in-law, Nannie Clements and one brother-in-law Lynn Clements. He also leaves a devoted cousin, Sylvester Dudley and a host of other relatives and friends. Pop will be missed. He touched so many people.
