Minnie Ruth Brand , daughter of the late James H. Knight and Minnie Lee Knight, was born on April 18, 1938 in Taroboro, North Carolina.

Minnie received her education in the Baltimore City Public School System, after leaving North Carolina. She graduated from Frederick Douglass High School in Baltimore, MD.

Minnie found the love of her life, King Warren Brand and the two were married in 1958. From this union one son and five daughters were born.

Minnie worked at the Miracle Market on Baltimore Street for many years. After leaving the Miracle Market, she began working as a laundry attended in a laundry located in Bolton Hill.

As an adult, the Holy Spirit led her to attend several churches, Minnie decided to make Bethel A.M.E. her church home. Minnie was a faithful member. She was a very active and vibrant person, before her health began to decline.

Minnie was a devoted mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, she went above and beyond to please everyone, even if it meant neglecting herself. She had caring ways, a great attitude and so much love for all. Minnie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

While at Good Samaritan Hospital, on July 11, 2017 Minnie made her peaceful transition from labor to reward.

She leaves to remember and cherish her memories: one son, Michael; four daughters, Teresa, Stephanie, Rona and Amy; twenty seven grandchildren, thirty eight great grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, seven nieces, three nephews, a host of other relatives and friends.

Minnie was preceded in death by her husband, King Warren Brand; one daughter, Lorie Ann; two grandkids, Darrin Dorsey Jr., and Perria Brand and one great grandson, Charles Burrel Jr.
